Just a reminder to ourselves and to all, this is a blog about our whole family. Not everything in our lives revolves around our cancers. Therefore, we wanted to share this little tidbit about Sadie.
Monday night I was giving Sadie her bath and she had put all her bath toys and all the shampoo bottles into the water. When Nathan walked in to join us he asked in a surprised voice, "Who put all of these toys into the tub?" Sadie searched the room with a look of astonishment on her face, as if she, too, were surprised by the scene. Nathan prodded, "Did Sadie do it?" "Nooooo," she said. "Did mommy do it?" Again she said, "Noooooo." "Well, who did it then?" Once again she searched the bathroom for a culprit, the wheels spinning in her head, and finally blurted out, "Dorian!" FYI folks, Dorian is her cousin and lives in Savannah, Georgia. It was her first lie! We were so proud. We had been told by other parents that lying is a big milestone for a child's development and apparently science has proved it (see links below). Listen, we know it's not rocket science, but these are the ways in which our child amazes us and keeps us in the present moment.

So happy about her lying and so happy you wrote about it. Holding you under the light.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! She is so smart:)
ReplyDeleteI meant to say holding you in the light.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteThat's really funny! Our three year old just told his first lie too, and frankly, I was a little relieved. Go Sadie!
ReplyDeleteGo Sadie!!!
ReplyDeleteToo Cute :)
ReplyDeleteso glad you are still able to delight in the small things that Sadie does. I get the same joy from my children. Thank you for posting that! It made my day because 1)It's good to hear something light an positive from you 2)my 5-year old has been lying for 3 years now. And she's smart as a whip.
ReplyDeletePraying for you daily...
Too cute! Perhaps the first of many, and some you are definitely more proud of than others.... :) (I speak from experience on this) She is a doll....this really made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! I love it! Lying is Complicated Higher level thinking---so sweet! When I was babysitting my 3 year old granddaughter I asked her do you want cereal for breakfast? She answered, "No thank you, ice cream please!" I gently said how about some cereal, again in a small sweet voice "ice cream please."
ReplyDeleteCute! Thank you for sharing such a sweet moment with us.
ReplyDeleteHi Elisa! Great to hear from you! Your post about Sadie was so heartwarming and funny. Seriously it gace me a belly laugh! It was a great reminder of when my wee one told his first lie, and a few there after too, yes, that happens, more lies come -- but they will stop sooner rather than later, thank God. It is all part of the learning game of children. My son always blamed his imaginary friend "George." To this day he still plays with George, but at least he is not blaming George for everything...I believe he finally figured out what a lie is, yah think?
ReplyDeleteSending love and hugs to the three of you up in New York! God bless you all and I am praying for all of you always!
hahahah! Love Sadie! You can just imagine those little gears working! She is going to keep you busy for sure. Smart little stinker! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun moment and so fabulous that you've captured it in writing. As a new mom (back in the mid-80's) I meant to record all of the kids' funny sayings, but the baby book still sits blank all these many years later.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your little sweetheart with us. I miss the baby days and love reliving them just a bit through you guys.
Hmmmmm.... well, maybe Dorian did do it! Uhm, it was ESP! I just know it, uh hmmm, it WAS Dorian alright! Very clever of him to sneak in like that. Luvs, Blazer (the poodle)
